2008 Mega Cab LONG BOX

I saw a NEW 2008 FACTORY mega cab long box 3500 at a dealership today. I took pictures of the frame where you can see that it hab lengthened and it looked like it was factory welds to me. The frame piece that appeared to be the added piece was 28 inches long so it was a continuous frame on both sides. New factory sticker in the window. A little over 48K. I want oneBAD but not 48K bad

There is a guy in Idaho that does those conversions. The conversion costs about $5k IIRC. 48K isn't too bad depending on the original sticker price. I never pay sticker though.

I knew that there is someone in utah, provo I think, but Idaho I didnt know that. This truck was in Montpelier, a little town in the southeast corner of the state. The truck really appeared to have all factory welds on the frame.I have pics on my phone of the frame I am going to try to post

I dont think it was done at the factory. No way would DC cut the frame and re-weld it. They would simply engineer a new frame.

It was done by an outside company, like lifted truck that they sell as new. The dealer farms out the work and then puts a new price on it, usually overpriced by 300%, but $48K is a cheaper sticker price then new out here in CA.

Was it DRW?

There's a company here in texas that is doing the conversions, they use very skilled welders, it is not a factory option it is farmed out to a frame shop. There was also a quad cab, short box (as in mega cab short box) dually on ebay a week ago or so, it was done by some of the same people doing the long bed mega's.

X2...if Chrysler was going to build a long bed mega they would build a frame to fit it....they would never cut and add like the conversion company's.....lots of people can weld nice beads....not just the factory.
