Pretty expensive for the factory to make a frame just for the Mega LBs.... since they use hydroformed tubing - lots of $$$ in the tooling.

true but they still would not cut a mega in half and add 21"-24" either...

... that was my point - OEM rolls with hydroformed frames, not chop 'n weld fabrications.

Have you guys ever looked at how the factory makes the frames?
They are modular sections that slide together and are then welded.
the length of the center section can be changed to make different length trucks.

I like this one. Everything looks evenly proportioned.

The Mega cab needs a 8' bed to look "right" to me.

I like proportioned:

long bed, 37" tires, medium lift.... oh yeah - at least 1000 ft-lbs.

Have to admit the long bed does look better, but I can't imagine driving that thing as a daily driver, in parkades, parking lots etc.

I've dragged the sides of my rear tires on curbs enough times already in places long wheel weren't really designed to go (drive-throughs especially). 28 more inches...yikes!

Long bed Mega cabs look "right" to me too...
Short bed single rear wheel mega cabs look wierd.
I thought the shortbed dually mega cab looked good though... so I got one.

Its really common for dealerships to send out brand new trucks for customization and then still sell them as "new".

I used to work at one of those accessory type shops and I have put dozens of lift kits on dealership trucks.

Most good shops can weld better than the factory too.

it's a custom

I just called over there (Jensen-Wood) and asked about it. The saleswoman said it is a custom, but she refused to tell me who did it for them. She did say that Dodge will never build a factory long-bed Mega (hope she's wrong).

BTW, it's a 6.7 6-speed manual SLT, and her best price (for me anyway) was $44,936.
