2005 Dodge receiver hitch

Hello, we have a big toy hauler and are thinking of going to new equilizer weight dist bars. I was wondering if I should replace the reciever hitch as well? Anyone know what the stock 2500 qc-stock receiver hitch weight is? Thanks

The above information is correct, but if you DON'T have a weight distribution system (weight carrying situation), the max tongue weight (according to dear old DC) is only 350 lbs. Heck - I think there's Class II hitches out there with that for their max tongue weight. DC is definitely trying to cover their butts with this one...

UNLESS, there's something in your 05 owner's manual that states a different weight carrying tongue capacity. Is there? I'd sure like to know if there was a change between the two model years' Owners Manuals...

I pull a 34 foot triple axel with the stock hitch, and pulled the trailer for two years with the stock hitch on our Yukon XL. According to the scales I'm about 1,000 lbs tounge weight loaded and that's about average for a large toy hauler. By the way, I use the Reese Dual Cam with 1200 lb trunion bars and a 14,000 lb ball.

My '05 Class IV hitch receiver says 12,000# maximum trailer weight / 1,200# maximum tongue weight with a weight distributing hitch and 5,000/500 without.

Ditto. Mine's printed right on it from DC. Here's a pic.

well, thanks everyone, I think I am going to go with a class 5 hitch just to be safe, since my trailer weighs 14000, if its a waist let me know.

Well I'll be... They're putting stickers on them now... There aren't any stickers on my 04.5, and DC states in my owner's manual that 350 lbs. is the max weight carrying load. LOL - DC Customer Support - what a bunch of morons. And I'm not dreaming this up - here's the thread from last year about this subject. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...=hitch+ratings

Hey - thanks for the information and the picture - I appreciate that !!!
