Exactly what I was thinking! I will just sit outside for about an hour opening and closing the passenger door until it tears. I have 6000 miles on mine and the driver's door is already torn.

 

I'm kinda of perplexed over this, since I have my second 3rd gen ram, i have not experienced this with my two rams. I guess I am lucky on this, but I see that there is a TSB issued for this problem. It does look like a weird design as I can see how this can dig into the molding. Right now, mine still looks like it has not rubbed at all.

 

My '03 has the same problem. It's not pinched, but it rubs when you open the door and that's slowly tearing the seal.

 

Try some pure silicone grease after it/they are replaced , I have not had mine replaced yet , but a little bit of bulb lube stopped it from tearing any more than it did !
