Anyone know if there was ever a 5spd installed in a 3rd gen CTD? I have a friend who has seen the light and is converting from the Ferd (sick liter) camp to Dodge. He is currently looking at a 2003 CTD and he says it has a 5spd. I questioned it many times but he says he is absolutely positive that it is a 5spd. Did DC put NV4500's in a few 3rd gen's or did somebody swap this one over???? I told him to stay away from it. It might be a Hemi trans, or a swapped truck, but at the least might be an SO truck or something??? I thought it was weird.

 

Yes, they did. The 5spd could be had in the Standard Output Cummins (235-250hp).

What's wrong with that? I am sure he would like it.......he may not be able to afford a new truck.

 

There is nothing wrong with the SO trucks... They run sooooo much cooler, respond REALLY good to mods, and after all its still the same ol cummins

 

That's my opinion also.

 

He decided against in anyway, he owes too much on the PSD, that thing crashed in value
