My friends 99 5spd 4x4 CTD died today.
I was going to the store when I saw my friends 99 on my other friends g/n drag. His truck has 111k miles on it and it just died in the middle of the road on his way home. What could have caused this? When he turns the key the lift pump pushes fuel out where he cracked the line. I told him that the lift pump would be my first guess. I asked him if the truck ran funny for the last few days and he said no, it actually had more power. The truck sputtered twise and then quit.
DM01

Did he loosen an injector line to see if there's any fuel coming out of there? I suspect the injector pump.

Chris

Yeah he cracked a line and it pumped fuel out of it. I don't know about filters. They both kinda just run them until they die. The one has a 98 12v 4x4 5spd and he just changed his stock finler out last year......with 80k on it. I know he changed the fuel filter on the 99 one time because he had some really bad fuel the month after he bought it.
DM01
