2003 3500/2wd Tires cupping
The front tires on my 2003 quad cab 3500/5.9 cummins start cupping (inside of tires) at about 4000 miles (I rotate every 4000 mi., 60 psi in 265/70-17 E rated). The guy that balances and aligns my truck says that it is in alignment and balance. This is a quad cab 2wd and it is lower in the front than it is in the back, could that be part of the problem, and would a leveling kit help. Any suggestions or comments out there. Thanks, HDRHLR
I'd second the shocks suggestion. My dad had a pickup that did the same thing, a 2wd Ford that cupped tires even though the alignment was within specs.
After removing the shocks, you could feel it resist normally except for about 1" of movement that it would blow right through w/o any resistance at all.
Anyhow, new shocks, no more cupping...

I flipped the spacers in the back of my 2wd 3500 to drop the back almost an inch and a half...it was kind of a pain but the result is same ride, lower stance for easier trailer hook up for what I tower and I'm not "fronting" like I got a 4wd...

I also found out by running the max of 80 psi will make a difference on these tires....all i have run on my truck since brand new is michlins....and you can look at my sig an see i dont let the grass grow to much....but 80psi i can get righ at 95000 out of a set, if i lower it....which i did at first andf it dropped to 76000, so the pressure does make a difference
