It's -30C this morning on the Praries in Canada and I've tried the winter front. So now it takes 30 minutes to get 1/2 way to normal on the temp guage as opposed to 60 minutes. This isn't a new topic with the 3rd Gen - it comes up every year. I've had a new thermostat put in and even tried blocking the rad completely. Nothing makes much of a difference. I found that an in car heater plugged in overnight will heat the interior nicely for the drive to work. The trucks heater starts blowing "luke warm" air about 1/2 way there (20 minute commute). Let's face it, this is a great truck when used for the purpose it was designed for - working. As a commuter, in cold weather, it just doesn't heat up quickly (or if it is cold enough -doesn't heat up at all). When I hook up my horse trailer and start pulling, it's at normal operating temperature within 5 minutes. My solution? I now have a heated garage, so the truck is toasty warm in the morning and stays that way until the heater starts blowing some warm air. I park it inside my warehouse at work so it is even warmer on the way home. When I have to drive around town on the weekends doing errands with lots of stops, I drive my girl friends Honda Accord. It heats up in 2 minutes and stays that way. Does anyone know if the GM or Ford diesels heat up quicker??

I walked to school uphill both ways 11 miles in snow as high as the telephone wires in minus 40 temps.

The minus 40 is no lie. The rest of the trip to and from school was 8 blocks but sometimes felt like 11 miles in deep snow.

HO HO HO
Do you have a company name for a heater with a timer? I would love to have one that came on 1 hour before I head home at mid-knight from work
