brett>> sorry to hear of your paint problems, they really suck and i know when ever i get them, they eat at me too. i come to the conclusion though i'm always gonna have them no matter what i buy. so when i buy new , now i really look it over , find what will drive me crazy that has to be fixed, then negotiate the outa site things i can live with for other things. i get the bodyshop mngr to put a value to whats needed for repairs , then trade that amount for nerf bars, mudflaps, ect. DC ok's it, it's recorded on my service record so i can't reaproach them with it later, and i am happy cause my truck looks cool with the new parts, i don't feel ripped off, or dealing with new issues ( rattling door panels, poor fitting trim) and the damage i can blow it off then cause i know every 3-4 years i'm getting something new.

06 black from Mexico

My 06 only has 1600 miles on it, but looks good. When I took delivery of the truck it had the gritty feel and some scratches from a few lazy wash jobs.A little Meguires and some elbow grease and smooth as a baby's bottom and sparkles like a diamond.....Now if it will hold out, Black is finicky and I swore I'd never by another black car, but here we go again

well some say black is beautiful...if i could do it all over again, i would have gotten that deep red color. i dont know what its called but everytime i see one i kick myself in the butt. i got a hold of the service manager and vented to him that the paint was unacceptable and told him that i will be there around the first to have it fixed. ill be getting a loaner this time around for sure!! i love my truck but id be willing to walk away from it and get another one if they cant get it right this time. im not being **** either, its very obvious and everytime i see it ill start looking for any other imperfections. but oh well its just a truck that runs pretty good and thats the main thing.

thanks for all youlls support and when the weather warms up ill post some pics

brett

have a great x-mas eve

Not to hijack, but does anybody have spotty door strips? My passenger side shows some discolored spots. The drivers side is fine. I tried to buff them off but the appear to be a flaw in the coating.. To a much finer degree there is some on the front bumper (laramie) but then again I'm most likely the most **** person here when it comes to this stuff...

I know how your feeling, mine just came out of the body shop
because some kid ran his bike into it, about a week later it friggen hailed , 2nd time I've seen hail in 25yrs., now I have little bumps that you can't feel, but if your at the right angle you can see them if you point them out. It's not going back into the body shop until it needs paint some day, and then I'll turn it in as hail damage and get it painted. I guess if it's out on the streets sh**ts going to happen.

sorry to hear about that sprinter. that sucks. well they are going to sand down the run because its just a build up of clear...then for the roof im going to try to get them to paint my replacment front end the same as my truck instead of fixing the roof because its not that noticible unless your really looking for it.

Hail

Here in the St Louis area we seem to get it way to often.

Depending on the color of your rig, the smallest hail dings will have a tendancy to "fix" itself over time...especially in the Florida sun.
But you can help in along..wait for the hottest day, park it in direct sun to let the surface heat up as hot as possible, then quench the surface with rags soaked in icewater...you'll be amazed at what can be poped out
