I know.. you'd think so huh? I gave up on dealers a long time ago.. Actually walked away from a deal at the table for my first mega cab (special ordered). I specifically asked them not to detail or wash it without me there and if it wasnt convienent then don't bother to do either. I didn't trust some sixteen year old working on my >50K truck.. At any rate before I finished the paperwork I looked at the truck and found thousands of scratches on the drivers side bed panel. Just as I feared, some jackass jumped in the bed and probably drug a pressure washer hose across the bed. I haven't been that ****** in a while. Needless to say I walked. They tried to buff it out lol. Of course it would look good with a cutting wax. I asked them for some rubbing alcohol and a microfiber and went over it - the scratches reappeared!

So I try to let the dealer never see my vehicles. Oh, my truck was made in mexico.

I agree. DC dealers s^*k....

They send me notifications asking me to use their service department for oil changes. They charge $50.00 to change the oil PLUS a $19.00 "oil diposal fee". The use a MOPAR filter instead of Fleet Guard.

I change my own oil and do my own maintenance. The only reason for using them is if something $$$$ breaks during the warranty period. Other than that, they are a joke

When I told the dealer I'd take the truck, I told them not to touch it. Don't wash it...don't fuel it...don't move it...DON'T TOUCH IT. I was a nervous wreck when I had a new flywheel/clutch done under warranty on my SVT Focus. Do I need help?

^^haha.. nope you are just like me.. I did the same thing to the dealer I ended up purchasing (bought the truck on the spot the same day I walked from the other one) from and that's how this speckel overspray got me... since the truck wasn't totally clean it was tough to see and I missed it. My rear pass. window was scuffed when I bought the truck and the dealer agreed to fix it as a condition to me purchasing. Well now I'm sweating even taking it there for the window. I'm half tempted to bag work that day so I can stay there and babysit the truck..

Good luck Brett

Dont relent on the loaner. Explain to them that it is DC's problem, not the dealers, so it should be no skin off their back. They have insurance for these types of issues. Dont let them push you around...keep civil but firm.

thanks longhorn. its no big deal as i have a very nice car available to me if i need it, but to me its just a matter of principal. i dont know how much they care about customer satisfaction. ive been planning to start buying new trucks every 3 or so years and i figured they would be a little more interested in keeping customers coming back. i know my low numbers of purchases are probably chump change but i just expected more

Not true, I buy a $50k truck every two years or so, and also my wifes van, parents van, moms PT cruiser. 7 vehicles last year alone, and that dealer has not always given me the best deal. And if i think they are, i still get quotes from other dealers. my experience has shown that there is no loyalty in the dealers that you deal with.Because of this, they only get one chance with me, and i will move on to another. Kept it between three so far, but truthfully, they all suck. If you and i ran a business this way we'd be broke fast!

Longhorn, Is right on. There is no loyalty.

I would also check into getting cash back. Fact is, a repainted vehicle (or any part of the vehicle that's been painted) is less valuable then a non repainted vehicle. It is always assumed there was an accident. Believe me, check with the used car manager or the guy that deals with trade ins at any dealership.

I had a Ford F150 in 2000 have all sorts of paint issues, and they repainted 5 or 6 panels of the truck. When I went back to the delaership in 2002 to get my SD with the diesel, they stated well it has had a number of panels repainted, so it's only worth this. I had to show the service records that it was a Ford paint issue and that their dealership painted it and they gave me $1000 more for the truck....

I would truly be outraged. In the end, though it's a DC issue and they are technically fixing it, you still will lose value in the truck.

Not to get sidetracked BUT this issue along with the ULSD issue all has it roots with the EPA. They sure like sticking it to the "little guy". The hard working person is getting passed the bill to cover these EPA rulings.

Don't forget to VOTE this NOV 7th. As these issues are tied in with the people & issues we elect. People died so that you can vote.

***UPDATE***

well i took my truck there on monday, didnt get a loaner and picked up my truck on the following saturday.

the bad thing is that its going to have to go back to them. the work i unacceptable and will have to be corrected. if i hadnt needed my truck and had drove 45 mins, i would have left it there. the body shop guy wasnt even there...

there were two problems which i will post pics up later today. the first one is that there is a paint run on the edge of the hood and the second is that there is a indentation around the sat. radio antenna. kinda like they didnt bondo that or fill it out. just a square box thats sunk into the roof a little bit. when it doesn go back in i will be getting a loaner. this is getting redicioulous. can you lemon law a truck for paint?

Oh, that sucks buddy! Sorry to hear about your luck!

Cant answer your question about the lemon law as we dont have it up hear, but have read about it, and my opinion would be no....there are no mechanical failures, but someone with some experience with it will lkely chime in!

Good luck and keep us posted!

It could be what we call rail dust. It is tiny metal particles that get in the paint from a rotor or other metal to meatl. A clay bar should get rid of it, if that is what it is.
