06 aux. back-up light wiring

I have searched for aux. back up lights. What wire did you, who have added back up lights, use to trigger the relay. I'm having a tough time deciding what wire to use. Thanks.

I always wire my lights on a seperate circuit so I can use them in Park and Neutral as well.

Also works for tailgaters as well.

If you can follow this diagam, it's really simple. Just hit the switch when you want them on.

that is just a plain ol relay. most automotive relays have 5 pins on them. if you get one with 2 pins marked 87 and not 87 & 87a, then it is just like that above relay but with 2x outlet normally open terminals. if you get an 87/87a, one terminal is normally open [NO] and one set is normally closed [NC] in that type, you would just use the NO terminal and wire like above [and stick a blank covered 1/4" female blade on the NC pin]

http://www.the12volt.com/relays/relays.asp <= a good read on relays for those who are not totally understanding them
