Wiring aux lights to existing switch?

Hi Folks, I am new to the list.
I am trying to find some information on wiring my PIAA driving lights to work off my dimmer switch.
Seems as if the ground is switched?
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

Re:Wiring aux lights to existing switch?

Bill,

You are correct. The multifunction switch (dimmer switch) switches the ground to the headlight filaments. The other side of the headlight filament is wired to fuses and then to +12V. The correct way to wire this is to wire one side of the fog lamp relay to +12V and then connect the other side to the low beam wire. In my 2002, the wire is available under the steering column, behind the kick panel. the wire colors are violet/white for low beam and red/orange for high beam. If you need more help, just ask.

Re:Wiring aux lights to existing switch?

I changed he stok headlight bulbs with PIAA extreme blue bulbs at 95 watts. I also installed PIAA auxilliary driving lights rated at 115 watts, this was installed through a relay swithced with with a splice on the high beam wire and controlled inside the cab. So now when I switch the driving lights on they come on and off with the high beam switch. Now I can see the deer and anteloppe at night in plenty of time to slow down.
