05-07 5.9 3500 Laramie looking for info buying possibly

Hi there,

I am back to this site finally and thank god. I sold my 04.5 3500 to get into a 2008 Ford F350. For what reason I don't know I was stupid. The 6.4 is a joke and anyways I sold it and now on a hunt for a 05-07 5.9 Laramie.
I was also banned from the powerstroke site as I just voiced my opinion on the 6.4 and they did not like that.

I was wondering if you guys could tell me what to look out for in 05-07 5.9 ??
My 04.5 only issue was the lift pump I replaced and other than that she was great !! A few minor things like poor door seals also.
What do I need to look for in a 05-07 5.9 ?

Please let me know as I am looking to buy asap

Thanks guys and it's going to be good to get back into a Dodge again

They always say to check the platic intercooler ends on the 05.
i love our 05 Laramie, the interior is awesome.
wish i had the big head lights of the 06 though, the small lights suck.

Glad your back. I beat that was an expensive lesson to learn. No real issues, just the normal stuff, maintenance, etc.
You mind elaborating on the issues with the 6.4. I have heard some but a first hand experience is always nice.

Why is it that you have to have a Laramie? Is it just because of the heated leather seats?

Yes I like the Laramie and the heated seat feature as up here in Canada it gets around minus 40 celcius. That leather seat is rock hard without heat !!!

To elaborate about the 6.4 Ford it was fuel economy # 1 but also the truck just did not feel like a truck to me. I mean it looks great but that is all they have going for them in my opinion.
I loved how when I would step on her to pass someone the turbo wold take a second or two to kick in and then she would go.
Maybe I didn't have it long enough to make a better judgement but I would rather take a Dodge anyday over that Ford.
Driving in my Dodge it felt like more of a truck and I like the stiffer ride of the Dodge. I drove a new Chevy the other day and it feels like you are floating.

I love the Cummins 5.9, the sound, the performance, everything. And to beat it all the fuel economy is pretty darn good too.

Hopefully I can find another one soon

Auto or stick?

When I was looking for a dually, the 6.7 was having check engine light issues and poor MPG.

It took a lot of doing but I found an 06 Laramie stick dually with nav system. As a bonus it already had a B&W in it, lifetime Sirius, and jake installed.

Other than a funk from the HVAC system, it has been fine.

Same tranny as your old 4.5, assuming it was an auto.

Yeah the auto is fine unless you put too much power to it or abuse it. I had a valve body installed in mine and improved it a good bit.

Someone started a thread on installing 06 lights, fenders and upper bumper trim from an 06 to an 05..

Love my '07 Laramie!

Love my '07 Laramie and have had no major issues. There was a recall on the Mopar Steering Linkage but it was covered by Chrsyler. My only beef so far is the interior frosts up like crazy under certain weather conditions - I've never had this issue with any other trucks. I've since been setting out a container of baking soda when it's parked to absorb the moisture and haven't had any repeat issues.

And the heated seats ROCK!
