Tire size

All,

Can I fit a 285/70 17 on a 17 x 6 rim?

I would suggest going to the tire manufacturers website and see what they recommend.

If they're OE rims, they're 17x8 and yes they fit no problem.
6" wide rim is too narrow for a 11" wide tire. It will mount up and work ok but will "balloon" the tire out and wear the center of the tread faster

The dually rim (aftermarket) is 17x6, and I was trying to save the new MT front tires I have

guessing for that size tire you would want a 7.5-11 inch wide wheel. it will fit but bulge and when a tire buldges it looses strength in the sidewall and will also wear faster
