Q's about Smarty Jr and Cali-delete...
The truck was shipped from FL to me here in Tx. I haven't checked the vin to see where it was built, but the door panel sticker says its an incomplete truck (cab & chasis), but I doubt that would have anything to do with a egr cooler MIA...
It definitely looks like you're missing something on the EGR cooler side... Hmmm.
Sounds like you're having issues getting the Smarty file into the Smarty? Assume you've downloaded and unzipped the file from the site OK..., and having issues with the driver for Windows 7?
Looks like you should be using this driver:
CDM_2.04.16.zip
Smarty USB driver for Windows 2000,
XP, Vista and 7 (32 and 64 bits) *

It may be that your engine is configured different, but...
Your pics show a cooler sitting on top of the exhaust manifold and a tube crossing the front of the motor. This tube carries the cooled exhaust gas to the intake, via the EGR valve, on the other side where the intake is. The EGR valve, if you have one, sits up high, with this tube connected under it.
A pic of the driver's side of the engine would help clear this up.
Those pics show the EGR cooler, which sits on the exhaust. The EGR valve is on the other side on top of the intake.

I guess Im looking for something different than the pics that are on Mad's site and the ones Blake posted. I sure don't see anything that looks like a small motor sitting on top of my exhaust manifold. Am I just missing it? Can you edit one of my pics and point it out to me?
Thanks

Hey guys, its a cab and chassis model. Different config altogether.
Make sure you have the ME version downloaded and the Throttle valve unplugged and go from there.

Btw, I have 2 laptops, one w/ XP, and one w/ Windows 7. Ive had better luck getting farther on the XP...
Also, when I hook up the smarty to the XP laptop, it doesnt read "new hardware found." When I go to the control panel, it doesn't read/recognize anything on the usb drive. I've also tried to "add new hardware", but then it asks me if I have "already connected this hardware to your computer?" Choices are "yes, i have already connected the hardware" and no, i havent added the hardware yet."
No matter which one I choose, I cant figure it out...
Any more help would be greatly appreciated

If you installed the driver it should automatically recognize the Smarty.
Now as far as unzipping the file Im not sure why it wont let you do that. I would make a new folder for the .smt file and extract it to there.

When downloading the software, when it asks you save or open select open. then it will open in your 7zip progam and select extract. Then you can go to the file where you save it, open the usb driver with the smarty plugged in and select send. when you select send it should ask you what to send and select your j67me.smt. I think this is right, hopefully this will help.
I got it!! Man was that a pita.
Got the truck programmed and no more engine light or codes, I didnt drive it, just started it and let it idle for a min or so.
So as far as the egr cooler issue, do I just keep on going like I am now, or is there something else I need to do?
Thanks guys, couldnt have done it w/out yall.
