Programmers and Tuners for my 6.7

So... I just got a 2007 Dodge 3500 Dually with the 6.7 Cummins with 207,000 Miles on it and has the Manual Transmission.

It has a H&S Delete kit on it, a Raptor RP100 Fuel pump and AFE Cold air intake on it. I did a little bit more digging around the engine bay and found that the last owner had a few Sinister Diesel hoses (One being a redirect hose where the EGR Cooler was) and I found that he had a tuner or programmer of some sort installed before I got bought it and I'm pretty sure he had a Boost Gauge on it but took the Gauge itself. He left the hose for it in place. He also left the Fuse expansion for the tuner/programmer on there but took the programmer... I have a few questions:

1: Is there a way I could find out what Programmer/Tuner he had on there? (He wont tell me)

2: He also installed a south bend clutch. Would that Heavy Duty clutch cause 4th and 5th Gear to grind unless I'm at a certain RPM? I know shifting on this transmission is supposed to be Slow and deliberate, but waiting for the RPMs to drop below 1700 before I can smoothly put it in 4th or 5th gear seems ridiculous.

3: After laying into the gas pedal, the message "PERFORM SERVICE" comes on in the overhead console. Would this be due to the Delete kit without the programmer running?

4: My cousin is getting rid of his SCT x4 Power Flash Programmer for his 2007 f350 powerstroke. Would this programmer be compatible with my Dodge?

That's it! (I think... )

Any and all opinions and responses are greatly appreciated. I'm new to this forum and this is the first Cummins I've owned. Not the first I've worked on or been around. But the first I've owned and I'd like to make sure I can make this beast last a LONG time.

Hey fanman43, welcome. Wierd he won't tell you. See if he'll tell you where he got all the parts to delete. You may be able to call the supplier and find out what he used. If not, if the truck was returned to stock, then any delete capable programmer should work.
I have the south bend clutch also. And at low speed shifts I'll get a little bit of a groaning sound till rpms pick up. Haven't experienced anything like what you're describing though.
The perform service message you're getting is because you're running the truck with the computer thinking it has all the stock emissions garbage on and it doesn't. I would not be driving it until you get a programmer sorted out. you can do a lot of damage. As fro the sct, I haven't heard much about them. Most guys here run smarty/raceme, or H&S. You pretty much gotta go with the raceme now due to the epa crackdown awhile back.
Good luck, keep us posted

What kind of damage could happen if I drive with out a programmer? This is the first I've heard of that.

there's no way to tell

the message is associated with low fuel pressure, low map pressure/clogged air filter and more.
If you don't have a bunch of codes then you have a delete tune loaded on the ecm.

won't work as far as I know

It sounds like he had an H&S on it as he had the add on fuse connector

There is a H&S on it. Are you talking about a H&S Programmer?

(P.S.)
Sorry It took so long to reply to this thread. Been busy. I have taken another look around it... Come to find out, The transmission Is grinding because the Syncro Rings onf 4th and 5th gear. So now I'm looking around my Area (SLC Utah.) for a good place to just rebuild the ting. If anyone knows a good shop in the Salt Lake Area, Let me know!

Yes if there's no emissions related codes then there's a tune on it and it could be from an H&S tuner. (The fuse spade and the fact you stated he removed the tuner)

There is no CEL but there is a "Perform Service" Message on the Over head Console. I havent gotten it checked yet. I definitely need to clean the CCV and adjust the Valves... I think for the most part. I've got this truck figured out based on what you guys have told me and what I've been able to research.

You guys have been a big help! I really appreciate it.
