Turn the key to "on" and leave it for 30-45 sec before you try cranking.

My old one would fire right up the 9 6.7 cranks longer but much less when leaving the key on for 30-45 sec.

Other then when I have the wait to start light on, I start asap. 116,000 miles and have not experienced long cranks. It fires within a second or two...never really timed it...seems pretty much fired up instantly.

However, a friend of mine had a similar situation with a very new [less then 5K miles] truck. Just for the heck of it he changed out his fuel filter and it starts quick now. maybe some poor fuel from the factory? Who knows.

Mine will fire right up half the time and will crank for a couple seconds the rest. Only 9k miles and it has been doing it for ~3k miles

When my wait to start light is on I wait and then it fires right up. when it's not on I start it and it cranks once and the second time it starts. 08 with just under 5K miles

check to see if you need an updated flash from dodge I know but there was a TSB about extended cranking times i was also said to pick up 3 MPG or so with just the updated flash. Most have to be plugged into the scan tool to find out which flash they have but a good dealer ship will do this under warranty if you tell them your having the extended crank times. PS eventually the check engine light will come on but i dont remember the code of hand

I'd be curious in hearing more information about this. If there is an answer, I'd like to post it on the wiki and in the forum.

I always wait for the 5 dings before hitting the start button. Of course the wait to start in the winter, but any other time I just wait for the dings. Don't know why they are there but must be something.
