Actually, the cost would be reasonable if you took your favorite aluminum truck box and modified it to clear the stack(s).

How is it possible to run 7 inch stacks with the y-pipe underneath the bed?

There is VERY LITTLE space because of the fuel tank. I don't see a way to get a 7 inch stack through the drivers side of the bed from underneath... unless you run them in the middle.

I think, and I could be wrong, that xl8r was talking about putting much smaller stacks up, and then 7" sleeves overtop of the pipe.

There was a guy on here about a year ago that did it. The biggest he could use is 4inch flex pipe next to the fuel tank... I think I'll settle for the y-pipe in the bed

That wouldn't be too bad, since a custom tank would use all available space, like over the Y etc. etc.

One thing a person could do if you wanted the Y underneath and still wanted to go with 5" is just drop the fuel tank about a 1/2 inch, with spacers, easy to do, enough play in the hookups for that drop, and that should allow for the 5 " pipe past it,, I think,,

I like your idea, but I'd be real careful putting a fuel cell (RCI, etc.) in the bed without a good amount of protection. Those things crack really easily, and need to be mounted on rubber mounts so they can flex. Trust me, it would not be fun to crack a fuel cell full of #2.

If you do decide to do this, take some nice pics. You're truck is AWESOME!

I never thought about that... I'm sure you know becuase of the jeeps you've been around. I've seen A TON of those fuel cells leak in rockcrawlers... That would not be good

I've had it happen on a couple of my brother and my custom rock crawling buggies! Not fun. Now we only mount them out of the way, and on rubber bushings. They leak a whole heck of a lot less than regular tanks when you end up on your lid!

(D. Wiggs.....for above reasons (and many more) lets keep all 6 wheels on the pavement... or atleast 2. )

I will do my best! Yes, I agree, making sure that the tank could flex would be of the utmost importance; however, doesn't the bed flex quite a bit on its own? Afterall, isn't that why it's not attached to the cab ?

It is true that the bed flexes....independant of the frame and cab. However, it is important to make the fuel cell flex independant of what it is mounted to...the bed in this case. As the fuel sloshes around the tank moves slightly....thus the need for flex.

Makes sense. I will make sure it is mounted on LOTS of rubber!

I personally don't like em', but, instead of dropping the fuel tank install a 2" body lift. It would give you all the clearance you need between your fuel tank and bed. Plus you could squeeze bigger tires too. Just my $.02
