xzt works finally, first impressions

I received the new harness from qzilla last night. The harness that came with my used (used but reflashed) xzt was shorted or missing a connection somewhere and thus throwing codes.

Finally had the chance to drive the truck with the module installed and working as advertised.

The truck runs like a raped ape. A lot of my buddies are running this stacked on top of that and putting gobs of power to the ground,

first impressions of this box is the truck has plenty of power, i don't think its as fast off the line as some race boxes but it pulls hard through all gears. Merging onto the interstate this morning i went from 60 to 80 so fast i couldn't believe it

i want it to be reliable and tow my 34 ft, 5er more efficiently so idon't want to stack or give it so much power that it grenades on me, i will tow it early next week and see what it can do

So far very happy with Quadzilla's product.

Congrats on getting your box up,& running.I'm sure you will love the towing power the XZT gives.I was able to go over mountain passes in O/D @ 75mph. running only 1200* EGT.& I had more if I needed it.That was running 11,000#GVW scale weight.

I bought my XZT for the same reason. I wanted a little extra power and mileage plus something that would not scatter my transmission down the highway while towing our 5th wheel.

Still looking to purchase a box, leaning towrds the Quad race box.
When you say XZT do you mean the race box, 100 HP box or the 65 box?
With comperable driving conditions and styles what have you noticed as far as MPG gaines?

yes its the 65 hp 165 lb ft box

i haven't had it working long enough to calculte mileage gains as yet

I topped off last night and will calcualte a normal driving situation this next couple of days, the gain will have to be my guide as i drive from denver and climb the colorado mountains to home everyday, the 7 % grades will kill your fuel mileage

dodgezilla,

i actually backed my rokktech back to stock for now, i may bump it back i may not, do you see gains in mileage using the timing sensor with the box?

I can't really answer your Q about the mileage, but my Rokktech is fully advanced and I have no issues with my 100HP Quad box. I mostly run it at 60HP, which I think is pretty much the same as your XZT.

Since the race box has several settings, it sounds like it is the same as the 65 and 100 HP boxes, plus a little.

I want to purchase one, but do not want to pay a few hundred for a 65HP box, only to wish for more.

I am easy on the truck, very little towing and hot rodding, mostly Interstate. Would the race box kill the truck?

if you into the racing serious hot rodding thing go for whatever you want

for me the 65 hp 165 lb ft was perfect for me, consider this

my buddy just removed his juice/attitude off his 04, nearly an 800 dollar box

when he was all said and done the dyno numbers from edge claim a max lb ft of 775 peak, the same as my truck with the xzt i bought used for $175.00

and i don't have to worry about tearing up my truck,

the thing pulls hard through all the gears and goes faster than i can safely go on the street anyway

Dynocon, I will sell you my xzt that has been on for less than 2 tanks. It does great and got me 18.25 mpg ( much better than before XZT) I just put race box in. Its just however much power you want. After having extra 60 or so, I wanted 140 or whatever it is.

hand calculated mileage for the last two tanks

13.6 mpg, up about .5 mpg, pulled the 5er up from denver for about 40 miles mixed in there somewhere

that is about all i see on a daily basis as i do climb the mountains every night for 35 miles home, several long 6-7% grades, at least 2-3% all the way home, i can't say i have been keeping my foot out of it either, ran at least 70 mph+ for the last 3-4 nights

i haven't had the chance to just get out and just run down the higway

i try and test it agin without the towing for a day or so
