those numbers are alittle high i think. i have the zxt on my truck and i see 650-750 at 70. wot it can get pretty hot but not 1500. the hottest i ever saw was about 1450 at over 100 mph. i wouldn't jump to conclusions about something being wrong with the box cause every truck's alittle different. but call quad just to ask if they think it's faulty.
how long does it take to cool down to 300? mine takes about a minute to cool down to roughly 325-350 when i shut it down.
i did the tone ring mod on mine, which adds alittle pump timing, this would help in decreasing your egts.

I haven't seen my EGTs go over 1200 degrees since installing the new turbo, except when I'm ******* it on hills. My cruising temps increased though with the larger turbo from 650 to 750 degrees at 75 mph. All temps reflecting the race version setting.

Extending the length of the dowl pin hole on the ring behind the harmonic balacer thus advancing the timing. It can also be accomplished by buying a new adjustable crankshaft position sensor from rokktech for $70.
