WOT Shifting

At what RPMs are you guys shifting at during WOT, such as at the drag shift. With stock springs?

letting the truck shift where it normally does is all you need. I've tested the 4K tune on the track, manually shifting and once you get into the power band.... it doesn't do much good to go beyond it. Sled pulling would be another story.

About 3000 to 3200 rpm's is where it should be shifting. I've gone to 3500 and 4000 and by the seat of my pants can feel no benefit. The time slip reflect the same.

So triton are you telling me that the tntr tune is something i should avoid? I was trying to get it but if it does no good after 3200 then theres no point! Is that what your saying? Please tell me what you mean.

I agree with Ty. Put the truck in "Drive" and let the transmission do the work for you on the drag strip. I have tried manually shifting my 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve which is set-up for drag racing and I cannot better the E.T. by doing that. Now, Ty might be able to as he has a real nifty racing shifter in his CR Truck!

The nice thing about the R tune is the ability to turn off the rev limiter. You can take the truck to red line but, it will defuel on you. With the rev limiter off, you can take it to the limits of the power band without that happening.

Taking your truck to 4K on the track will do nothing for you.... as far as I've found.

John it is fun to use.

Thank you Ty.

So basically its a waste of time and i shouldnt worry about getting valve springs, unless im pushing somewhere near 70 psi, which i dont. I really appreciate the info, you just saved me alot of money and time. Thats what im talking about.

if you plan on running your truck hard... springs are still a good idea. They won't gain you any hp though, only a bit more piece of mind.

I run my truck hard at every event, so maybe one day i will buy springs. Until further evidence that i need them, thats another what? 430 to 600 dollars i can spend on nitrous or water meth i will not buy them. Just my .01. I really do appreciate the information! Hope to see you at an event some day. I have seen your truck several different times, whether it be in magazines or over the internet. Good job, maybe i will be a celeb one day. Probally not, but oh well thats not why i do it anyway, im sure your the same way. LATER TY!
