Ok so it will crank the same exact length each time but not try to start. the trans light comes on and it thrown invalid sim code, but the red security light does not come on. It will turn over about 4 times just fine then the trans light comes on and it just stops cranking. Everything else works, amps look good, Im confused.
It did this last weekend and finally just decided to start. It started this week when I needed it. But last night and last weekend the grid heaters came on an then it wouldnt start????? Why could my batteries be a little low and thats whats causing it, the drain of the grids then the cranking cause it to become retarded???


Any thoughts would be great cause Im lost and I need my truck today. Guess I will push things back till tomorrow and hope you guys can help out.

 

Your missing losing some detail , " same length of time " is good info , how about how fast ? same speed of turning over ?
Then you mention the grid heaters , then it wouldn't start .
By this , is it turning over the same fast speed ? or slower ? or not turning over ?
Then you mention your batteries , again there are some implications , but no info ? why do you think the batteries ? not turning over or turning over slow ? you mentioned the amp gage , but not a reading ?
I have dropped out of the repair buis. a few yrs ago , so am not up to date on there endless adding of too many bells & whistles , is the security lite stock or after market ?
What is the sim code ?
I would say that maybe the fuel is being shut off , by either the security system , but not sure of the trans lite ?

 

Check the trigger wire (yellow/blue stripe) going to the starter. They will chaff on the motor mount and ground out causing intermittent issues.

 

My bad...Yes she is turning over fine normal speed, when it stops turning it just stops and at the same exact time each try over and over but still cranks fine till it stops. Code is 0153, and again the transmission light comes on as soon as it stops cranking??? I will have to go try again a little later and I will take my battery tester but from the way it sounds it sounds like the truck just disables itself after 4 perfect cranks as if I had the wrong key. But the darn security light on the dash is supposed to come on when that happens and its not. (oh and the light does work).

 

Oh and thanks guys for the replys, It drives me nuts cause it did the same thing the other day then started and ran just fine. I hate little glitches. The wifes about to shoot me if I keep messing around with the truck.

 

Did you update the ECM lately with the Smarty?
I found out the rig won't start if the program doesn't 100% finish, I was rushing and didn't do the last flick off the key and wait. Pulled the Smarty and the rig just wouldn't fire.
Re installed the Smarty and the rig fired on the first turn.

Might not be the problem but something to check..

Thanks guys, I got her started. The starter sylenoid (sp?) has those 2 90degree plugs I messed with them and she started right up. This is the second time so now I know where to start looking but what a wierd intermitten problem. I hope I have got it fixed for good.

Again thanks guys and if any of you smart guys care to explain what may be going on Im all ears, if not next time she doesnt start Im jiggling wires. Not a real good feeling when your truck doesnt start with the same symptoms in two weeks and my answer is to tug some wires .

 

I'm not a 100% sure what two 90*'s you are talkin' about...

but it sounds like you have a bad connection or a break in the wires you are tugging at.

If the wires are ok, try a contact cleaner...
