Wich of these 2 trani probe t's would you use
I'm really struggling with wich one to use. The blue fitting is a flared fitting. But I've heard those can vibrate loose, and even crack the line if it's not flared right. The other is a double swaged compresion fitting. It has 2 ferral's that's supposed to seal really well.
I kinda like the idea of a flare, but with that blue fitting, the opening is only 1/8 npt, and I had to go through a bunch of fitting's to make it work. I'm worried that it won't get a good flow over the actual probe and give a true reading.
The other fitting seem's like it would work the best since the probe is right at the edge of the fluid flow. It might even be in the fluid just a tad once I get it screwed together all the way. But, I'm affraid of it because it's a compression fitting. How many time's have you seen someone's rigged trani line's leaking.
How ever, the manufacture of that fitting assure's me with the double swaged ferral's, that won't happen.
Sorry I'm being so ****, but I just want to get it right the first time. Thank's for any input.
Well heck, I'm trying to post pic's, but I can't for some reason. Can't I just copy and past from my gallery.
Well anyway,,,they're in my gallery.

Fitting
Well you have my answer
I'm still problem free after 4 months (4,000 miles). I think either one will work excilent as long as there torqued correctly. I do believe the flaired fitting one is designed to be taken apart and put back together more than the swage lock one is. But your right the Swage lock is designed to see very high PSI's associated with Hydrolic lines. But then again the flaired fittings are used in Brake systems..... I think either way you'll be good, but no problems here.
Tom

Ya ,,,some guy on here told me about that fitting. Can't remember who though.
By the way. Thank's.
I think that's the one I'm going to go with. I just don't think the fluid would get to the other one sufficently. But,,,I'm no engineer.

Hey Tom. I messed up and didn't pay attention to the oritation of the ferule's when they came out.
I believe that the big one goes into the fitting first with the small end in first. Then the small end of the small one goes into the big end of the big one. Does that make sense, and is that right,,,,lol.
You can go to mcmaster.com and put in 5929K146 ,,,scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the ferule's.

It's not a fitting that you get at the hardware store. It has 2 ferrul's on each end. I'll try to find the part # for you.
I forwarded you a private message that Taso5 sent me. He's the one that come up with the fitting.
Fitting
Jammer, Yes the big tapered one goes in first, then the small tapered one 2nd. (the conical part goes into the fitting) Sorry it's taken me so long my computer fried over christmas (what a great present) So it's been a while
I didn't come up with the idea, I just found a high quality fitting to make that location work
5 months and not one drop has leaked

Boy,,,,you must be asleep at the wheel. That's been almost a month ago.
I put it together wrong, leaked all my fluid out, and smoked my trani all because you didn't reply soon enough.
Just messin with ya.
All you really gotta do is look at it. Common sense really. Just a head's up for anyone pulling this line. Get everything ready to go first. I pulled the line first, then dilly dallyed around adusting the fitting just right. I ended up with about 2 quart's of fluid on my driveway because I wasn't paying attention.
It leak's like crazy out of the cooler.

Yup that oil will come out. I used a little rubber cork style plug, shoved it in the cooler and only had a slightly damp rag in the end. So what fitting did you end up using?? I haven't had one problem with mine. It did touch the other line a bit so I put a piece of clear tubing on that to protect it.
Yes I'm a month late, my computer got fried over the weekend, and I lost all my work info, pictures (of my truck) this and that, yeah I'm really PO'd about now.
So much stuff ahhhhhh. Who would put a lab top next to a window (open) when it's raining....(female)( no offense ladies only to my woman if she reads this) If only our heads weren't attached, it would be so much more interesting.
It's funny you mention the oil change. I refer to it as "The oil insedent of 05".
I had my drain pan under there. The kind that has the white plastic thumb screw in the middle. Well, when I pulled the drain plug out, the oil was hot, burnt my hand, dropped drain plug, plug landed dead in the middle of the hole in the drain pan, sealed up tight. Couldn't get it out. All I could do is watch 11 quart's of oil go on my driveway.
What's really bad is I just got through chewing my kid's butt for him getting a little trani fluid on there. I'm having a hard time living this one down.
Also, I went with your suggetion on the fitting.
I just pulled on my line a little and moved it away from the other. I pointed the fitting where the probe was pointing at the master cylnder. I had to to make the wire long enough.

Oil Mess
I've had that happen once. Changed the transmission fluid in my bronco, was lifted up all that. I beat on the pan, all bolts out wouldn't move. Got up to go get a small pry bar and Pwaing, she fell off, yeah that sucked. It's amazing how things work. I had to legnthen my wire also as I had it on the other side of the truck before and I cut it short figuring I'd have plenty, I was like 2 inchs short. I love to see the temp on this line though, really think it's the best.
