Why not Banks Power products

Just found this forum, have owned a 99 2500 since new and want to pass it on to my son. Looking at a used '04 2500 with low mileage and the Banks 6 gun setup. I have not seen mention of any Banks products on this forum and wonder if they have a bad reputation. I'd like a little more power from a newer vehicle and want the best value, not the cheapest and had found this site to be very educational. It seems most people like the Smarty or Triple Dog setups. Where should I look to get the most value for increased power and hopefully an increase in MPG?

From what I've read most people think they're too high priced for the amount of hp is all...

There are endless threads here about Banks. I as well as a hundred other members can go on and on about this. Your best bet is to try the Search feature and you will be blessed with 100's threads so you can make your own decission.

This forum has been around for years and just about every topic has been discussed and you can access every one by using the Search.

If you want a quick answer then the reason why not many of us use their stuff is because its very expensive, doesnt provide the HP #'s, problematic electronics, and doesnt provide good customer service.

goodluck

Like was stated earlier, it's mainly the price per hp that people don't like.

There's nothing wrong with them. Just high priced and Gale Banks has a big head on his shoulders. If the truck already has it on there, good. Less you have to do.

i have to agree with what is stated above hp/buck is way to high for my wallet. but since it is already on the truck i wouldn't see any problem with the extra hps it will give you and you can pull it and sell it if you ever wanted to upgrade.

If you know anything about diesels, just a phone call with any sales rep will make your opinion about Banks. I have talked to one of the sales reps on the phone just for a good kick....its horrible. They tried to sell me $4,000 worth of stuff for ~120hp. I can get 180hp for $350 straight out of the classifieds on this wonderful website.

I wouldn't buy from them because the sales rep I talked to basically tried to force an exhaust brake on me...

He must of asked me for my credit card number like 7 times...

"O.K. Michael, I'll need your credit card information before we get started..."

You all can let the beatings begin. My sales rep was Eric Carrasco and he was willing to make a deal. He was very nice and knowledgeable. I have had one small problem with mine and the tech support had the replacement part at my door quickly. I went with the Banks because I got everything in one package deal. I priced out all the guages, intercooler w/ hardware, muffler delete straight pipe, intake and programmers. I did better doing it this way instead of hashing together different parts. I went ahead and wanted to replace the intercooler because I didn't know how crazy I wanted to go with my mods. At the time I priced the kit all the way up to $5500 & I paid somewhere around $3000 for my bundle. This is my opinion on the product.

Gale Banks knows his **** but his products are not worth the money, the only product worthwhile from him is his intercooler and boost tubes. i think if he can hold the land speed record in his Sidewinder he could make his tuning products be alot better. it seems like if it has too do with him and his personal projects he goes all out but when it comes to the general public he slaps together a product puts his name on it and overprices it. i respect his knowledge of turbocharging and talent, he knows way more than i ever will but i do not like the majority of what he sells, i think he under engineers his products

While I won't argue the price point. My CS was excellent, the tech was very helpful and non pushy. I went with Banks due to their protective attributes.
