Where to get Injectors, lift pump, maybe turbo for 2005

Hey guys,

My old faithful 05 has been great. On my last trip out I think I got a bad tank of fuel as i had the truck rough start on me a few times when cold after that. First time was the worst, ran rough cold and blew gray smoke for 20-30 seconds then cleared up. After that a little longer cranking and rattle for a few seconds when it starts but then clears up. I did hammer on it hard on the trip, lots of EGTs and level 5 on edge all the time, but nothing new there for this truck. Otherwise it runs great. Has just over 65k miles on it.

Oil was a little low and a little old so I added 1L of lucas oil addative to it. After that the other starts have been better then the first one, but not 100% gone. This is the second running issue I have ever had. The first one was about 2yrs ago. Oil was older (no time for oil change) and the truck ran 24h w/o being shut off. I pulled off the highway after some level 5 passing to get a coffee and it ran rough. I shut it off for a few mins, re-started it, and no prob. Went home, put some fresh oil in (rotella w/1L of lucas as always) and zero issue until the other day.

So I think it might be time for a fuel system upgrade. New lift pump, possible injection pump mods, new injectors, new turbo.

What I want is a package deal. I want a group of proven parts that will work well together. One stop shop would be great IF I can get knowledgeable advice and service. I am looking to install all the parts myself. I am not looking for more power, but if it comes with the package, that's great. What I am looking for is a proven combo that will work WELL and reliable on my 05. I don't abuse my truck, but, I use it.

What do you guys recommend for parts, and, from where? As for budget, zero $$$ would be nice but it does not work that way. I will spend for good stuff.

What do you guys think.

Thanks,

Igor.

Raptor 100 fuel pump, Formula One Diesel Flux 1 injectors, and an HTB2 62/12 turbo. Solid reliable upgrades well suited for a hauler/hard working truck. You may even get better fuel economy.

You get more exotic parts and gain some performance if you want to spend a little more money.

Sweet, thanks for the input. Checked out all those sites, they look reputable. I have heard good things about mots of these sources.

Would these mods work well with my edge j/a and tst stack? Or even just the edge on its own? I would expect this to help make a little more power then I make now, and less EGT.

Thanks,

Igor.

I don't know much about the TST, but they will work well with the Edge. If you going to be adding that much fuel, you may want to upsize that turbo a bit to a 62/14, 62/71/13, or maybe even a 64/12 or 64/14. The 64s will be laggier, though.

By the way, you can get a better price on that turbo elsewhere. I just posted that link for informational purposes. Call Lloyd Mills at Mid-Atlantic Diesel for a great price. Lloyd will be getting my business when I finally have the money to upgrade. He has spent the time to answer a bunch of my questions over and over again and I haven't even spent a dime in his shop. And he knows his stuff! He's also a member here.

Ok thanks for the tip. I do want to keep the lag to a min. because i have 3.73s and 37s. How I wish I had 4.10s or 4.30s....

I am going to change the oil and fuel filter and go from there. Have to figure out how/where to check for fuel pressure on the cummins and see what reading I have. Then dig deeper. But I am sure its injector. I drove it way too hard the other day on the highway....

I agree Lloyd is the man to talk to, he got me set up with a perfect combo of parts. My truck runs very nice now!

Look at the 62/65 13ss, a little more pricey but worth it in my opinion.
