When reprogramming smarty on truck, Aid-dog makes weird noises.
Does this mean there is a possibility of an imperfect data download if an aftermarket fuel pump is running during the process?
Kind of what I thought. Mine is installed using the FASS harnes that plugs into the OEM harness for control. Mine seems to run exactly like a stock LP would. Each time you turn the key to on, the LP is going to run for some period of time. Mine has not caused any issues and I have loaded and unloaded Smarty programs probably a hundred times by now if not more.
I have not been to Michaels shop in a couple, three weeks now. Curtis' truck should be running soon if not already. I heard a rumor that there might be upgrades on top of head work done.
Still waiting on the RACE version. I need to see if I can push my limits a little higher

I believe it would be more of a problem with the stock lift pumps since the power comes directly from the ECM. With most aftermarket pumps the main power comes from the battery and the ECM only controls the trigger to the relay.
I have yet to unplug my stock lift pump while updating the ECM.

Mine was hooked up with the same power that powers the stock pump. If I recall correctly, this would keep it from powering up while parked & just listening to the radio on "accessory" mode.
9 times out of 10 I pull the FASS fuse. My Smarty instructions said to turn off all accessories during ECM updating and since my FASS is on an accessory circuit....I pull the inline fuse beside the pump....someday I'll get smart and put in a switch. KS
