When are pushrods needed?

I am in the process of replaceing my injectors, head bolts, and I have a set of valve springs on the way. My next round of mods will be dual cp3s, and maybe an exhaust manifold (though I hate to buy that twice) and intake manifold. After that twins, and possibley a cam, and that will be about it except for maybe some h2o meth and or bigger injectors.

Given that and my current mods, do I need 4130 pushrods?

I have everything apart and it would be simple to go ahead and drop them in, but I really dont need to spend anymore right now.

Any input is apreciated.

high rpm's is going to push them to their limits but, unless you're sled pulling with the 4K tune... you shouldn't have a problem.

Or, you could do like I did and install some Manton rods just because. They weren't that expensive and having an aftermarket cam and springs it's just an extra piece of mind.

The stock push rods are quite strong and wouldn't need changing while running a stock cam along with mild after market springs. "110 lb seat pressure" When you run a aggressive cam with heavy springs the stock push rods will flex and eventually bend. I wouldn't worry about push rods untill I had a problem. They are easy to change if needed.

Hey Wap, it's only money. Seriously, I probably didn't need them l, but after spending a lot of money to improve valve train, I wanted to make it as strong as possible, so for another ? $250 -- got some chrome moly pushrods, but they can wait -- as someone said. Good luck.

I would think it would be better to have a "fuse" so to speak..
I would rather bend a pushrod...if you do HD rods the next thing on line is a bent or broken valve right??? If you do rods you may want burly valves too?

All great advice fellas, thanks for the help. Since I am in a tight right now I will just hold off. The sticks and springs are already on my visa (and the only thing on it) and thats 2 things too much, I hate using credit cards unless I have to. So I will just hold out, I would kinda like to have but like you said Mark, a bent pushrod may be the lesser of two evils.

Thanks again guys

I am with Mark on this one, it is much easier to change a pushrod than a valve, cam or tappet. Jay
