Wheels and Tires Need Help!!!

New member and first post so if there are alreay post about this show me were to find it.

I am wanting to put some 20's on my 2500 2wd and plan to lower the rear to make the truck level. My first notion was 20x9 with a 285/55. My question is can i get a wider tire under there without it sticking out too far if so what size??? Maybe a 305/50????

WELCOME TO THE DTR!

Now cancel your credit cards and hide your cash. Just kidding. This forum tends to cost a lot of us tons of money.

To answer your question, I don't think you will be able to go bigger than a 285 without sticking out some. The wheel backspacing will have more to do with that though. I believe mine is +15 offset. As far as leveling, I used Thuren rear drop shackles to lower mine and a leveling kit for the front. Parts may be different since yours is a 2007.

I have the 285's on mine and they stick out about an inch. I forget the back spacing but it is close to factory specs.

Thanks for the input. I have been reading some past post and see some people are using 305/50 with a 6in back spacing that doesn't seem to stick out past the fenders too far. Also on the tires can you get away with 8 ply's and it not wearing down too fast?

On my 06 I had to level the front and drop the back to get it really level. With the front level kit only, my truck was still high in the back. But the drop kit fixed that.

No problem! Just to recap, I added the Daystar 1-1/2" front leveling kit, Thuren Fabrication rear lowering shackles, Bilstein shocks, 20X9 Incubus Nemesis 8 with +15 offset, and Cotinental ContiCross Contact LX 275/60-20 tires. Have fun!
