Whats The Fastest To Date

I've been around drag racing for around 20 years now and this is the FIRST time I've ever even heard of aluminum being used for cages.... Chromoly yes, aluminum... I don't think so. If I could find my NHRA rule book I'd say with absolute certainty that aluminum isn't allowed. It's mild steel DOM or Chromoly. PERIOD...

Hmmmm,,, I am very confused on this time thing,,, I know for a fact that castrol raceway which is a IHRA sanctioned track, it is 10.49 for any kind of rollcage. It is a very nice track, very well run, they have top fuel and everything else under the sun there... I wonder what the difference is?

Aluminum is a no no.
Cage materials are Mild Steel and CM period.
Full body vehicles running 11.49 or faster are required to have a 6 point roll bar.
Full body vehicles running 9.99 or faster are required to have an SFI certed "Cage"
Some tracks do have their own rules, but the rules must be more stringent not less.
So, unless you dip in the 9s then a 6 point has you legal. However my oppinion is that any of these trucks once in the low 11s high 10s should have at least a 10 point cage for driver safety.
My half ton was built with a 14 point cage as well as a full dash bar(not required unless at least 1 square foot of firewall has been removed). But I tend to build most things overkill.
I've rolled one of these trucks over a track retaining wall and it isn't fun.

doh, I was mixing up cage and roll bar...
I meant to say 11.49 is the limit for having a "showroom stock" interior...
I dont know too much about cage building, the aluminum thing was just a general oppinion from the basics I know about aluminum...
first choice for me would be 1 3/4" DOM or HREW steel.....

I might know someone who could do the cage (out of pvc , stainless, or whatever you want) but your a long ways from where the work would have to be performed,

if you are gonna take the one of the heaviest vehicle possible to race and run these times...i dont think i would worry about saving a 100lbs in tubing when it comes to whether you go home after the race to see your family or not...but thats my opinion
wade there are some really nice places around maryland that can build you a custom and legal chromoly 6 pt bar/cage. it all depends on how much you want to drive your truck as a DD rather than a toy. you can have it made with removable door bars, and if you want to make it a "cage", they can add a halo up top and bring bars down the pillars and hug the dash without cutting the interior, but that will make for a more noticable cage, and a knee knocker when getting in and out.

you just worry about your truck running down at TS,---and staying together.

The 10 sec. truck from Relentless is street legal and is driven on the street all the time. The truck still has the 3/4 ton frame(though shortened),air conditioning, and power windows, radio, etc. My 11.80 pass at TS last year would have been faster, but I lost my motor past the 1/8 mile,my mph was 14mph slower than the pass before.I hope all these so called 11 sec. CR are in Kentucky,I look forward to some good competition.
