im a little concerned about a roll bar, my truck rides so well i would hate to hack it all up with a roll bar----but if you going to go fast i guess this is what you must do.

FWIW. John P has a fast 12V. Its definatly a daily driver. He's run lots of low 12's and an 11 at his local track, but they banned him from that place cuz their insurance requires a roll bar below 12sec. I can honestly say its a daily driver cuz he drove from the coast of NC to a packers game... ~ in Wisconsin. He hardly drives his '06 anymore.

Do you need a full cage under 10.5 or can you get away with roll bars and some supporting structure? I hope to be forced into having one someday (just need more money to go faster) and I really wouldn't want the cage visible from outside the truck. Do the guidelines change from track to track?

yikes...an aluminum rollbar? Id rather have a rollbar that bends/yields, not snaps/breaks...
NHRA/DHRA specs say 11.49 and you need a cage. Same way at every track in the US, I dont know about Canada. I race in Canada sometimes and at least at that track (napierville) safety is a JOKE. It wasnt until I was running 12's that they finally said "find a helmet, and you cant have your buddies riding shotgun anymore"

roll cage
If memory serves me correct it is not only the track but what guide lines (race orginazation) the abide by it was something like 10.99sec with full roof and 11.99 witha convertable, i dont know if that changes with a pickup though. It would be an honer to break those time and at some point i hope they do require me to get a cage. ( i wont i'll just left off the go pedal)

I searched on yahoo and couldnt find anything. I ask cause I would like to put a 12v in superduty (one day not enough $ right now) and was already contemplating a twins set up.
Sorry to get off topic guys.

11.49 with metal roof requires a roll bar not a cage.
But we went with a chrome moly cage for the piece of mind and safety.
Would hate to see the aftermath of a 6500+ lbs. truck lose it at the track especially when you are doing 123+
