What edge setting is best for towing?

Obviously setting #2 says "towing" but is 1 or setting #3 better? has any1 tries all of them and what did you find? Reason being spring is around the corner and i camp lots. I have a 8000-10,000 lb 34 foot travel trailer. Also what egts can a guy expect on flat surface towing?

I have gauges on the way. Tranny, boost, pyro all isspro and quadzilla rail gauge.

It all depends on the truck. You obviously have an egt problem when you're empty and I don't, so you won't be able to tow on the level I tow. I have towed on level 5 (HOT setting) by the way. Normally I tow on level 2 or 3 since I got injectors.

Wait....you have a stock tranny. I wouldn't tow past level 1 with that camper.

what is this goerend tranny? is it a 48re housing or a whole tranny by itself? or is it a kit you put into our trannies when our trannies blow up? What did you do for input shaft, torque converter and flexplate and flywheel? Did you change all them to beefier ones and if so which ones?Where can u buy all this tranny goerend stuff?

I'm with omaharam, I would use level 1 and 2 at most with your 10,000lb trailer, using the higher settings will just overload your tranny. As far as egts my truck isn't really working that hard when towing on the flats, maybe 650-850 range, and my trailer is around 8,000-10,000lbs also.

Dave Goerend is a tranny builder that modifies the 48re tranny that is in your truck. You need at minimum a VB and TC, and then probably a flexplate and input shaft. You're looking at around $3500-$4000 to have those items installed. Then the only thing holding you back on towing is your egts.

Here is a link to the website.

There are also other builders available. Use the search function on this forum and you will find hours of reading material.

I tow as well on lvl 2(Dr.p pressure box helping). Towing 8-10 000lbs I hit egts of about 900 on flat and 1250-1300 climbing hills, depeding on how hard im on it.

I ran my Edge EZ on level 4 towing around 7K forn Scranton, PA to Hagerstown ,MD and had no issues with trans and/or EGT. Trans not any hotter than 180 and EGT no hotter that 1000. They dropped as soon as I got off the mountains.

Depends on the truck, I used to pull a skid loader all around when my truck was stock with just a edge juice and would turn that thing to level 5 and let her eat. Never got over 1100 egts towing and would light up the tires in 3rd easy. Buddy of mine pulls his 35ft gooseneck hitch with a 4430 on it weighing in at 22,000 pounds and turns it up to the 100 hp setting.
