I had something simular on my supercharge 02 get mustang. I felt like it helped out alot, lot less effort on the shift ( you know when you have do get down and gritty and kick sum butts)

hi guys be careful with that much weight on your shifter it may wear the shifting forks in the tranny.

My thinking to. That's a lot of leverage on those long shifter shafts.

I think if you machined a chamber inside the **** and pressurized it with Helium the shift fork/rail wear would be significantly reduced, while still keeping the large inertial benefits of the design.

here is the next version...machined out the inside to lose some weight...the official weight is now 1.5lbs should be perfect
now that I dropped the weight I don't think it will have any pressure or effect on the shift forks...and it bounces back from the spring pressure to the middle neutral of the shift pattern...the first rough cut did not...

sorry about the dirty truck pics

I dropped a ton of weight by taking out the inside.

I think I will drill the hole a little deeper so the **** threads down a little further.

I think that I am going to make one out of Aluminum for the weight issue. I have access to some scrap that I think will be big enough.

My understanding of this project is to increase the weight of the **** compared to the stock shifter, making shifts easier and smoother. A material would need a larger **** to equal the weight of this one, so I dont see any real gains unless it is considerably heavier than stock. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. Looks great though, wish I had a manual tranny!

I drove the truck some this week and I still think the **** is too big/heavy it feels unnatural in my hand..so I turned it down some more on the outside, drilled out the inside and tapped it deeper so it will thread down to the tapper on the shift rod..
I will post some new pics tomorrow

found a small scale and weighted it again and since the new trim it weights in at 2lbs1oz....my other scale was way off
