Wanted...Billet Int. shaft for fricked tranny

Well you all were wrong. The machined stock intermediate shaft from PDR (who don't do trannies anymore for some reason) was cracked in half right at an oil port. The direct clutch pack was fried but they were stock instead of ATS aftermarket for some reason . Everything else appears OK. So the quest for a Billet Intermediate Shaft Begins. Haisley's don't answer the phone, HTS has one but then doesn't, Suncoast will have one maybe end of next week, DTT had as many of their billet intermediate shafts fail as stock so they don't sell them anymore, and ATS is at lunch but is pretty well the only source left. Anybody have a maraging steel intermediate billet shaft sitting around pm me quickly.
I ordered a full set of Raybestos Blues and Kolenes for all clutch packs off my New tranny guy.

Next week the spare tranny shopping begins. All I know is that it is gonna be a full billet competiton built tranny with a top drawer flexplate. Suncoast has given me an excellent price. The price on the ATS website isn't even in the competition. HTS is very close. I'm sorry about DTT but if someone tells me they are going to use a stock intermediate shaft when i have both pieces in my hand...nuff said.
Thanks for all the help speculating what was wrong....What was wrong was the clutches promised weren't put in the last time and I cheaped out on the intermediate shaft. Lesson learned. ks

Doug, The shaft I broke was a stock shaft that the tranny guy who used to work at PDR machined...not DTT.

Found a shaft or two. Thanks Kerry

The tranny guy who used to work for PDR has his own shop now out in Chilliwack area. I dont know the name of it. Call PDR and ask them if you need a guy around here to fix you up.

Yep, not happy about the Borg Warner Frictions in a Built tranny and the guy will cover me on it. The shaft is a disappointment, but from the lack of inventory, I'd say alot of intermediates are going out under power. I think the exhaust brake had a lot to do with that and the direct clutch pack failure. Something has to take the abuse when you're dropping into 3rd fully locked. Twisting the intermediate shaft hard in one direction is one thing.....twisting it hard in both directions is quite another. ks

What frictions are you utilizing? Did I get you right you broke the input and intermediate?

McMopar, I broke the intermediate in half and the direct clutchpak was toasted. The new frictions are Raybestos Special Blues I do believe, Competition quality supposedly. The other clutch packs look fine but while its open....may as well replace them all. All clutch packs were taken out and inspected. ks

DonM, I blame you completely for this. Your cam works so good that even with my pathetic stock turbo I was able to make enough torque to twist the shaft in half. Yep, I would love to have OPIE's shaft in there....Tim in Va came up with one but I was unable to get set up to buy it fast enough. Thanks for helping Tim. I'm tying up a bay in my buddies busy shop so I'm trying to get it done by Friday afternoon.

Update. The sun gear was worn out of spec and two of the three bearings had unacceptable play.....I knew the tranny was in need of a freshening but virtually everything that could be WORN out was. 140k miles of hard hauling does take its toll. Oh well, I should be good to go after this but a spare full billet tranny is going to be sitting on the shelf for next time. The exhaust brake will never be going on again.....I can buy alot of rotors and pads for the cost of the flat spots on my tires, potential for valve damage due to valve float and a worn tranny. ks
