While I had the steering shaft out, I grabbed the steering wheel and spun it WEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
When it bound up and stopped the smile was gone from my face.....
Spun it back a few turns, threw the shaft back in when I was done, and crossed my fingers...
Couple days later....
"BING"
ABS light on and no steering wheel controls..
Broke the clockspring which supplies power to the wheel...
20 something bucks at the dealer was a nice surprise though...
Pulling the wheel/airbag/column shroud was something I won't soon forget..

I did the same thing on my 2000 and the clock spring for it was around $65. If the 3rd gen is anything like my 2nd gen changing the clock spring isnt hard at all. The hardest part was getting the wire harness run down the steering column.
