I have had my truck for a year and have 35k miles. My warranty will be up in another year, the extended bumper to bumper one anyhow. My engine warranty in maybe a year and a half - 2 years. I say f it, If something happens I will pull out the programmer, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes or so and they take it in or tow it in. My dealer so far has not cared about the mods but said it cant be there if a rep comes out to look at the truck for major failures.

I am trying to maintain my warranty, or most of it......while making some minor enhancements to it.

My truck has almost 38,000 on it now....so the 3yr/36K bumper to bumper is gone already. I have spent my money on areas of the truck that I want to customize on that should have minimal effect on the warranty. (gauges, bigger tires, PW flares, Mag-Hytec diff cover and double deep trans pan, new shocks, AFE Air intake, Magnaflow muffler, Ranch Hand etc.)

My point is, that I can only spend so much money at one time. My truck is still a work in progress and im trying to do things in the right order that won't tear it up or void the warranty.

As my warranty fades away.........and I have the money to do so....im going to look at major transmission upgrades and turbo (maybe twins) upgrades and then the big power adder boxes.

I can't buy it all right now anyway, so why not just spend money on areas of the truck that will have no or minimal effect on the warranty. In a couple of years or less my drivetrain warranty will be gone and by then I will probably just go all out.

So far I haven't had any warranty work done anyway other than the TSBs, door weatherstripping, and Reflashed twice.

as a dealer would state to you if you jacked something up, that air intake would void it. Excess dust could get in there and tear up your turbo according to them.

A few years back I thought that it might be a good idea to have the options for warranty as follows:

When you take delivery of your vehicle you may choose one of these...

1] Take the factory warranty

2] Take no warranty and receive a rebate of what?
5K
7.5K
10K

3] Take the factory warranty and supplement it with extended warranty.

This choice has to be made when you take delivery. I would be cautious of pre selecting No warranty when ordering. LOL

Hmmm, maybe this should a poll.

According to the Moss-Magnussen (sp?) act, they would have to prove that my air intake was the cause of some failure. Also, I have had oil analysis's done several times before and after the intake was installed. Oil is cleaner now than with the stock airbox.

I guess doing anything to your truck there could be SOME risk involved in voiding the warranty, but some gambles are worth taking, imho. A triple dog Bully Dog would most definately give them alot of ammo to void your warranty.

Also, warranty aside.....I just think it is crazy to add something like that without doing upgrades to the fuel system (to supply the CP3 with more fuel) and possibly tranny upgrades if you have an auto.

I drove a stock 05 truck with the Bully Dog TD, and it ran like a scalded ape. This guy was completely stock otherwise.....and he kept telling me to hammer it so I could see how it would do. So I did. But I felt like it was tearing something up. My 2 cents.

You are going to have to pay for it either way if it breaks

That is fine but as soon as they take out the aircleaner and use the white glove and find a grain of dust they will try and void you out. I know there is one guy on the board that fought over his repairs and won but it was not a court date so there is no precedence to follow, I believe they settled out of court. I would love it if MM act was all powerful but it doesnt seem to be. I too have mods, I am in the same boat as any of the people here with them on a newer truck.

Changing the hose clamp on my boost elbow voided my warranty on my 03. Once you get on their black list, its harder than hell to get off
