value of gauges
i plan to keep my 325/600 stock except for intake and exhaust to help lower egt's. does the information gained with gauges /monitors worth the output($)? if so which ones--ie egt ,boost, trans. i have an auto 3500 quad 4x4

It seems its always good to know whats going on with your rig but if you really keep it stock, theoretically you don't need them.
Probably the first, most important gauge is your egt, tells you how hard your engine is working, than most seem to follow with boost and maybe trans temp.
I dig the way mine looks up on the pillar

I just installed the sr-10 pillar available from mopar (single guage dual westach) from genosgarage.com with pictures. I can get 1000 egt on wot with a stock SO. The edge, 1100 egt and both are with out pulling weight. I will know more next week after a trip with a 8500k 5th wheel.

I installed my gauges while my truck was stock. You might be supprised how hot a stock motor can get. I did know that I would not leave my truck stock for long, so that did slightly factor into my decision. I must admit, I do know that I like knowing what is going on with that extra $5k I spent.

Dustin, no I have the single pod so I could keep my grap handle. I haven't got around to posting any pics yet. The Dipricol has a real nice look.
I'm going to add the Autometer steering column mount with a SPA dual gauge to get my boost and trans temp.

The factory trans temp warning goes off at 270, at that temp it means to pull over and call a tow truck. With a trans temp gauge you can pull over at say....220 and idle in neutral for cool down.
From there you might be able to save things and investigate why it got so hot.
To date I have seen 195 working it real hard. A gauge that has a warning lamp built in is nice like the SPA has so it will alert you and get your attention at what ever number you want.
If you develop an air leak for example in the turbo boost it could cause EGT's to rise into the danger zone, I haven't had that happen and am sure I would notice a power loss but wouldn't want to keep the pedal mashed if EGT's were too high.
I went with an SRT-10 A pillar and a SPA dual digital gauge with EGT/Trans Temp. Boost seemed not as important to me as temperatures.
