Using a compressor for Jacobs brake

Ive read that there are lots of people run a Jacobs exhaust break and the vacume pump goes out. Its something like $1000 for a new pump. My question is do you guys think that an aux air tank and compressor like the pac brake uses would work on the Jacobs system. Just a thought. Any Ideas?

You would have to go for a pac brake system or the like. I have used two Pacs one turbo mount and my current one inline. Can't say enough about them, they work great I never liked the idea of haveing both of my braking systems running off of the vaccum. One fails and you are SOL. I use a viair compressor and a 5 gallon aux tank. Also works great for occasional air tool use and pumping up that flat tire...

More than likely it is vacuum then and would have to be modified with an air cylinder in order to work the way you describe...

I was thinking of using a Ford SuperDoody electric pump when mine bites it.

By then, the wrecking yards should be full of Fords!

Gees, for $1200 you could get the new PacBrake PRXB and have a compressor, air tank and hose for filling tires etc. If it were me I would probably buy the PacBrake once the vacuum pump emplodes .
