Upgraded clutch hydraulics died on me while out on a camping trip

I pushed in the clutch while starting to go in line right after the kiosk at Carpinteria State Beach. "Snap!" My clutch pedal was on the floor and I was pretty worried. I thought my clutch pedal snapped, or the white plastic pin that attaches the rod to the pedal. It was late Friday and we were all tired and ready to make camp.

You know how when you install the hydraulic upgrade into the fire-wall by just putting it in and rotating it? Well, it rotated out on its own. I was very glad to see something I could fix tight there. So when I stuck it in and rotated it again, there was not a hint of "snugness" like when I first installed it.

About 20 miles later it popped off again. I was in a parking lot this time, w/o the trailer. So I was not as worried.

I always carry a bunch of different sized zip ties under the back seat. So I Mickey-Moused a set up that keeps it from rotating out. I will attach photo of how I fixed it.

Then please give me some feedback/tips/ideas on this one.

a thicker rubber o-ring. I used the ring that came on my factory master cyl. It's quite a bit thicker than the one that comes on the SBC kit. You could double them up but that's all you need to fix it.

The same thing happened to me on a test drive after install going down a STEEP Mountain road in the DARK!!! I got lucky and found a place to pull over enough not to get hit. Had no flash light so used my cell phone. We put the SBC gasket with the factory gasket, slapped it back in and its been great for 45000 miles. \

Still scary not having a clutch all of a sudden.

My upgraded hydraulics bolted into the firewall for my 2003. Must be a newer truck thing???

the bracket bolts to the firewall but the master cylinder itself is pushed through the bracket and turned to lock it in. If the rubber washer isn't thick enough it can turn back on it's own and come out of the bracket, which is what is happening. You don't have to unbolt the bracket on any truck to remove the master cylinder, just grab it and turn it clockwise.

The "aftermarket" hydraulics are actually OEM parts. If you tell me the part numbers listed on them (see white tags on the M/C and S/C) I can find out what they are off of.

THe BR, AN and if I recall correctly, the Viper had or have a remote reservior on the M/C. I suspect you have a ND slave and a BR or Viper M/C. Again, all OEM parts. Just different ratios to correctly interact with the aftermarket clutch.

I thought they were just off older trucks (like 12v) with a modified rod that hooks to the pedal. I know I got the exact same part from the dealer and used my old rod before when I needed one in a pinch. SB I believe has a better price but the hydraulics were the same.

When i put mine in i never really felt it SNAP in or anything like i would have liked it to. And mine came with another washer to i just left what was on it alone because i measured them and they were the same thickness. And seems like i tried to install with both and couldnt get to go? [to thick] hate to hear your having issues i remeber talking to you when i was installing mine back around nov. i think. Good Luck let us know. Ryan
