Uh-oh! Is this a bad noise?

Ok, as some of you remember, I was having trouble with my xzt when running the Hot Juice on level5. The truck was dying on me. Then one day, it suddenly accelerated all on its own and got really rattley. I assumed this to be a spike in rail pressure. Quad is still trying to resolve the xzt issue and is sending me a complete new unit and harness, so I currently do not have the xzt hooked up. Ever since the sudden acceleration, it has sounded a little more rattley to me. Sometimes I think so and sometimes not. My wife drives it to work because our other car gets 30mpg and I drive much farther. So I drove it last night and was doing a little playing. There is no question about it now. It is much noisier than it was a couple of weeks ago. The rattle is much higher pitched at certain rpms and seems to be louder as well. It even seems noisier at idle. The weather has gotten much colder over the past week, but I am pretty sure it wasn't this noisy last winter. I do not see any leakage and my oil level is not high so I wouldn't think its a cracked injector. It just bothers me that I think the rail pressure spiked and now it's much more noisy. I don't really know that much about diesels and especially our fuel injection system, so any input from some knowledgable people would be much appreciated.

Your truck may be a bit more rattley just due to it being colder outside. My 03 seemed louder in the winter then in the summer....

I read this the other day but was waiting for you to get the Quad issue fixed to see if that helped. Do you still have the Quad on the truck?

No, it's not on the truck right now. i expect it to be a little noisier when it's on due to the extra rail pressure, but right now it's just the juice and it's noticably noisier than before. It's not just a colde weather rattle either, and it still does it when warmed up. It seems to be with a light load and around 1600rpm and also at high rpm with the long pedal mashed. I just wish there was a diesel performance shop in my neck of the woods. The closest place that I know of is 3hrs. I guess I'll just drive it until something happens.

I am gettin a little noise in my truck too, when I shift sometimes or like you said in the upper rpms, espesially if I run it hard then let off kinda quick.

I bumped my tst down to 9* auto and I am gonna see if it is timin, injectors, or just the cooler weather, it was about 55 here all day today.

My oil level and pressure is normal so if it is injectors, one has not failed yet.
