Twins and engine durability
Twins and engine durability
Or can I need some opinions about tuning my ATS twins 3000/5000.
How high of boost can my 06 take before effecting head gausket life? I have run a lot of miles running 40psi on the stock turbo pulling with no problums.
Now with my smarty on 3 and the TST on 1/1 I will hold 45 pounds of boost I am thinking this should be safe. What do you think? What is the Max for stock headbolts?
I tried Smarty on 3 and TST on 2/2 hit 55 almost instantly and I let off
Where should I set the wastgate, 45? I am more consirned about reliabilty right now then big power.
Studs are in the future but more then likely not for a few months. With studs where can I safely set my wastgate and still use my truck as a tow rig?
One more question, is it true you shouldn't go over 60 psi with stock valve springs?

Theres no magic number when it comes to how much boost you can run. The timing and size of charger as well as drive pressures are all gona effect that.
On the 06, the smarty/tst stack aint a great idea on a stock turbo, I know, Ive ran it. But IMO I wouldnt take that stock charger much over 40 if you can help it, but 45 every now and then prob will be ok for a while.
With studs you can run more boost, but again, how much is gona depend on what charger/chargers you are running at the time.
