Talking engine durability issues

I was wondering if anybody has had any probs with the 03 motors? I know of a few motors the have quite the appetite for con rods.

I can assure you that's not the norm, I've been on these forums as well as TDR and NW Bombers and you just never hear of it.

There have been a couple engines go south due to a runaway and another guy who got too aggressive with the TST box. Other than that the 3rd Gens have been pretty bulletproof internally.

I've been reading the Dodge diesel sites for over two years and have never once read about a connecting rod failure or a bearing failure that ended up with the engine eating a rod. You must be thinking of a different engine or you know of someone with some really bad luck.

For what it's worth the bottom end of the B-series hasn't changed much over the years. So if you're looking for common issues, don't just look at the '03s, look at em all.

In my opinion, it was bulletproof then and it's still bulletproof. One or two here or there in something produced in the thousands isn't really a trend.
