I have heard that when you install a new turbo you should purchase new nuts to bolt on the turbo. Can someone please tell me if this is true and why?

 

Both my HTT's came with new studs and bolts for the ex. manifold flange.

 

X2...should be supplied with the turbo. With my HTT the reason why new studs were needed was getting the turbo on with the wastegate set as it was posing a problem because the studs were too long and we couldn't get it on w/o the shorter ones. Also, it seems better to replace them as over time the studs may weaken. I'm not saying they will, but who wants to take a chance after spending that much money?

 

I'm thinking, exhaust studs, expecially on a turbocharged vehicle, must have a hard life
