Turbo Damage with Qaudzilla Xzillaraider?

I searched and couldn't find anything on this ....

Has anyone running the Quadzilla Xzillaraider experienced turbo damage of any sort? I've been running the Xzillaraider in my 2005 CTD for about 3 years with no problems until recently when the CEL came on. Took the truck to my dealer (I know, first mistake) to have them take a look at it. They said it was throwing a code that indicated damage either to the waste valve or to wiring or a sensor on the turbo.

Has anyone come across this on their truck? Has anyone successfully fought the "You put a chip in your truck so you voided your warranty" mentality on something like this at their dealer?

TIA.

Did you take it to the dealer with the quad on the truck? If you get the egt's to hot yes you definately will ruin the turbo and pistons. I had a quad race box on my 03 for 2 years with no problems but I had my commander to defuel at 1200 degrees.

As far as I know, its difficult to fight the "chip on truck, no warranty". That being said, there are some dealers who are more "open" to the idea of aftermarket items on your vehicle.

But there is also the "you play, you pay" which I agree with. These truck engines and drive trains are engineered at the factory for certain HP and torque ratings. When someone exceeds them, breaks something and then tries to claim warranty, I would not honor it if I was selling trucks. But that is just me.

Your truck being an 05 has an electronic waste gate solenoid, thats the only sensor there. Ask for specfic codes and not general indicators. It could be as simply as over boost code which may indicate the waste solenoid has gone bad or wiring. what were your egt's before CEL came on?

Had the same problem with my turbo.. I killed the electronic wastegate sensor about 40,000 miles ago somehow.. Easy fix though, just clamp off the wastegate hose and keep going. Never had a problem since

Thanks for all the tips, guys. My first mistake, actually, was having my wife take the truck in. I was just too busy. She had no idea what the service manager was saying and I haven't been able to get them to give me a call back.

I'm going to use the key on/off trick to get the codes tonight. My money's on the electronic wastegate solenoid.

My EGT's have never gone over 1400 and have only been over 1350 for a few seconds. I also have the Quadzilla Recon and the alarm is set at 1350 per the instructions. It doesn't automatically shut down, but I'm pretty quick on the draw to back off manually.

Yup, it's throwing a P 0243 code. Looks like I should check for the wiring short or bad solenoid.

Thanks again.

Yup, it was the waste gate solenoid. Repaired under warranty. Apparently, they've been replacing entire turbo's under warranty when just the solenoid went bad. I told them not to do that on mine.
