Question TST help please

to all that own a 305/555 useing the TST power max with rail pressure. so far after installing the TST i still can't find it's "happy" point?? have the big line kit also. so far level 5HP level 5TQ and rail at 2...is way too much..popping like a wild horse on crack. so dropped it down to 4HP 4TQ and 2 rail. oh, boost set to 38PSI de fuel. so wondering who out here on DTR has figured out wheres that "sweet spot" ????? just have cold air intake and 4" straight pipe. i called TST and got weird stuff ??? nothing realy good to say..so please anyone chime in and give some feed back on this new unit for our 03/04 trucks thanks

popping is low rail pressure. leave the te setting on 2 or lower. the tst for the 305/555 engine fuels very hard and will drain the rail right off the bat and a stock cp3 cant recover from it. with a aftermarket lift pump 7/0-7/2 should be your best setting. stock lp then 4/0-4/2 is probaly all she can handle. im not real sure about the rail pressure settings. i run an edge box with mine and my tst likes alot of pressure to run its best. maybe turn the pressure up a little more. i would invest in a rail pressure gauge though. easy tuning when you have one.

I dont have a 555 but I agree, I have seen no one run the HP and TQ levels at the same number and have any succes. Usually the TQ is at least 2 #s down start at 3/1 then 4/1, 5/1, 3/2, 4/2, 5/2 and see how that does. All trucks are differant but I bet a 4/1 or 5/1 will be your best bet.

I agree you need to start on the low settings and go up. I would start TST 3hp/0te and 0 rail pressure. Only increase one option at a time and only increment by 1. Unless you have a dyno or track you will need to use the SOTP meter. But with a little patience you will find a combo that feels best all around.

On the 04 (555) I had before on the dyno my best level was 6/6 any thing above I lost hp and Tq. I believe it was 420 hp and 819 tq. I added a BD pusher pump and it didn't help as far as hp and tq goes.
My favorite level was 2 hp and 3 tq. for me it was the sweet spot for pulling while keeping EGT in check

Big line kit from the stock filter to the cp3 but what about the lift pump.....I would drain the rail on my SO at 7/2 at cruise or 5/2 at idle to cruise before the FASS. You need a dual pickup to a FASS or a GDP or similar fuel supply. With the FASS installed I could run 7/5 from Idle and 8/6 at cruise and still keep the EGT's less than 1375 on the stock turbo at 34psi max. The rest of the advice is good. The TE gives you better turbo spooling but that isn't a problem with the stock turbo. I think you will find 3/1 or 4/2 will be your favorite settings with the lift pump upgrade and then you can max out hp to play....the TE setting costs you alot in mileage ...the hp settings don't. You can run 8-9/0 and get good mileage if you don't go over 2200rpm...If you do you will rocket and watch the fuel gauge go down. It is a fun setting for passing at 70mph to the limiter. As far as the pressure setting keep it off or low .... save it for racing. I had a pretty high hp truck and my favorite setting was always 1/0 until challenged. ks

It's for when you have all the supporting mods, then it will come in handy. Until then be happy with what your configuration can handle. I am sure it will still make you happy .
