Go out and buy about 6 cans of chloro-free brake clean before you start. It also helps to have a good small pick set and a T25 screw driver. Small bottle of new trans fluid to lube all the valves when reinstalling and a good, cordless drill.

Alot of patience, be very aware of were everything goes or went. The valve body is basicly three pieces. Do them individually, don't take them all apart from the begining. About 3-4 different size screws that are sized for a reason so put them back were they came from.

Have a clean work area. There are 2 different items that will go flying when you disassemble (ball bearing and aluminum plug). They can be hard to find after ejecting.

Read everything while the V-body is sitting on the bench and try to familurize your self with the components before starting. Even takeing pictures if you have to.

The single best advice I can give you is CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! And allignment of the plates. One leak and you will be draining, removing and starting over. When done try and get a pressure gauge on it to see were things are at. Best to get a reading before and after the install of the kit.

Good luck.

J.D.

I had added this kit to my stock trans awhile back. Found instructions on one of the diesel sites that provided good information regarding what worked for others. It is how I installed my kit. Was very happy with the kit until I wanted more power. Be patient and have plenty of space to spread evrything out.

I have a 2 bay garage and had 1 bay with items all over the place.

Good Luck...

Well I have my first question. The directions say to leave out the washer type spacer for the 2-3 part throttle shift valve if your transmission if equipped with a TV cable which mine has being an 03. I was just wondering if this is what everyone has done or if they went ahead and put it in.

Thanks.

my truck has a TV cable and was doing the shift hunting. I did install the washer and the hunting went away. One thing I do recomend is not to put in the spring to make the shifts later. It is a noticeable difference from stock and kinda gets on my nerves but, I don't feel like tearing it back apart.
The washer is kinda up to you.

Well I just finished it up and took it for a test spin the shifts are a lot quicker and crisper if that makes sense, not harsh at all. I put in the spring for later up shifts, sorry bdewey I didn't get your post in time, and it is noticable although I don't know how bad it will be. I put it in because sometimes it would short shift when I was towing my boat and really lug it down. I also did the band adjustments so I don't know if it is just the kit or the adjustments but I can definetly tell I'm getting power back to the ground. I also left the 2-3 part throttle shft vavle spacer like the directions said and all seem well, we shall see!!

Let me know if you have any questions.
