tranny upgrade
Guys, I'd like to find that guy who said "if it ain't broke don't fix it." I finally shredded my torque converter and flex plate yesterday. Tore out all six bolts. Happened on a long grade going 65 mph on 4/4 empty. Too many long grades at 6/6 loaded to the nuts before I'd say.
Got towed to nearest speedshop that handled diesels. (At a Dodge dlr I might add). I was able to get my new ATS TripleLok shipped out by air from Hot Rod Diesel Canada (hotroddiesel.ca thanks Heath) within an hour of calling. It is to be here this morning at 8 am.
Can't wait to get back on the road. Think I'm going to tow at 3/3 until the valve body and shafts are installed, what do ya think. KS

Guys, Shredded the stock torque converter, pulled 4 studs through the flexplate, pushed two out. The two pushed out cut a hole through the Bell housing adapter plate and took out the starter cog. Drove the tranny in the rental truck 1000 miles to hotroddiesel.ca to get the tranny worked on. Heath took it apart on arrival...pump shot, clutches shot, bands wore out, just burnt. I will pick up the stage 5 rebuild with bearing intermediate shaft and billet input shaft on Tuesday. When the pocket book recovers the truck will start the long process of being powered up to match the tranny.
