Toyo Open Country M/Ts
Anyone running them?
Looking at the 35x12.50/17, since basically its the only E rated 35/17 tire I can find. I was considering the 315BFGs but Id like to stick to an E rated tire...
All the others are D rated, and like to be able to run the higher pressure and the stiffer sidewall for less tire flex.
Also, how are they in the rain and how well do they wear/miles you've gotten out of them?
Any input is appreciated.

With my Cooper S/T's I dropped 1mpg....With these expect 2 MPG drop at least and you couldn't convince me otherwise even if you use a Cray computer to calculate your mileage. Mud tires are great if you spend 1/4 to 1/3 of your time off-road. The toyo o/c a/t are what I'm running on the front right now and they are almost as good offroad as my st's were but on road they get better mileage than stock. If you are just into the looks they are awesome. ks

I might also be considering the Open Country A/Ts, 325/70/17, D rated, but still rated higher than the other D rated tires at 3305(vs the 3195 for the others)
I guess I wont be taking full advantage of going offroad with the mud tires, I was leaning more towards the E rating....
That and the A/Ts are $60 a tire cheaper
Thanks abc, yeah, I wont be NEEDING the mud terrains, so might just stick with all terrains...

I have the 35/12.5R17 Toyo OC MT's on mine and I love them. So far I have towed a 10,000+# boat and they are still a little squirmy but not as bad as the BFG MT's I had before. I got the Toyos for the exact same reasons you did and I am happy with them so far but I only have about 7K mi. on them so I can't really say how they are wearing.

Another thing I am worried about is losing fuel mileage, im hoping to pick up 1 or 2 with A/Ts, id be happy with the same, but cant really lose any.
I drive 80% on the highway anyway, so im not TOO worried about city driving...

I put on some 295/70/17 MTs and they were just awsooome looking as you can see in the pics. I could not wait to get these. Then I drove them, pulled a boat over the pass. They were all over the road. I could feel every nobb and bump on the tire. I had them at 52 PSI (out of 80) for towing and when I complained to the tire dealer he said I should only run these at 40 psi. Now it seems strange to me to run a 80 psi tire and tow at 40 psi.
I had them pull the tire before I put on 500 miles and put on the ATs. I was very disappointed because I really wanted these tires. Now, I will say that I've not run MTs before, so if you are used to running them then they may not bother you.
Also, note that these Toyo MTs come in both a 60 psi and an 80 psi tire. I had the 80s. It may be that people running the 60s have a better ride.

I was running Toyo o\c m\t 37x14.5x15 and loved them. Same truck I've had 33" Bfg m\t,37" goodyear mtr's,36" tsl swampers, and sold it with the toyos on it.Oh this was on my '84 toyota with a '00 chev 4.3l v6 \auto and I never had any gas mileage change. MY 2 CENTS.

Hankook makes an e rated 35 in a 17 and a d rated 315 and a lot less expensive then toyo but have not got many reports on them yet but for the price I think they look good.

I think I may end up sticking with the OC A/Ts just because of price and not needing the M/Ts(even though I want the E rating)
At least the OC A/Ts have the highest D rating...

So far I like them. They are quiet, smooth, and can carry a load. I only have about 7000 miles on them but mileage looks like it will be on par with other ATs out there.

I think ill be going this route instead of the 315BFGs I considered before.
What tire pressure are you running? Any wandering with the tall sidewalls?
Now to get off my butt and get my lift on

They are a 70 series tire so they are nice and stable. 235x80r17 are squirley on a truck on a road grooved by heavy trucks. A tire dealer that told you to put 40psi in the tires that is towing a 10k trailer is an idiot and should be put in jail. If the tire felt loose then you crank up the pressure. Most death wobble is underinflated oversized tires. I bought a f250 gasser as a spare truck and took it for a test drive on the highway. I hit an overpass bump at 70 and almost wrote the truck off. The tires were inflated to between 20 and 28 psi. Pumped them up to 65psi and all was good.....for a Ford. The weight capacity of the tire is at rated pressure. If you drop the pressure the weight rating is lowered. On line most tires have an inflation vs weight carrying ability. The tire is unsafe at that inflation, 40psi, while towing or with a load in the back. For drag racing I drop the PSI to 42 or 44 but that is empty. The Toyo OC AT are a very well made tire that when properly installed...yellow mark to valve hole....take very little weight on a round rim. ks
