Cool

About Nox emissions. . . they are produced during high cylinder temps. A simple mod like the Rokk Tek tone ring & sensor won't increase Nox appreciably, because its just a little timing on top of you normal daily driving. But throwing on the TST, downloader, Juice or whatever favorite box you want to name. . . that WILL significantly increase your Nox emissions when you're hard on the throttle. Especially if you use a boost fooler on a stock turbo, in which case you're probably producing Nox out the gazoo

So those of you who want to save the planet. . . get a bigger turbo or take that box off

I don't have a cat so that doesn't concern me.

Still curious about the emissions though. It may be within limits, so no big deal. More MPG means you actually use less fuel, so maybe it's a balance. And less profit for them greedy oil companies.
Hoss is right, something gotta be done with these diesel prices. The Supply and Demand economics stink, if that's what it really is. I wonder if any group is actually lobbying for diesel prices on the hill. The big haulers should be at least.
Saw the movie but wasn't too shaken up over it. But, I live in Texas and aside from a rush of Yankees running into my beloved state it didn't get hit too hard by that "ice age". Heck, if it will cool down our Texas summers and maybe even bring us a bit of snow in the winter time then I'm all for it.

I honestly don't know what the mod does for emissions, but I have noticed considerably less smoke coming out of my pipe...which tells me that I'm getting more complete burning of fuel...which means my engine is running more efficiently...which is a good thing (unless you like lots of black smoke). But, if this mod does increase emissions, I think that the benefit of better fuel mileage outweighs the drawback of the increased emissions.

I stand corrected

From the rokktech.com site..

"Improves mileage, reduces exhaust temperatures and reduces smoke and greenhouse gases. Undetectable, will pass emissions testing."

Looks like the mod maybe better for the enviroment after all. Consider yourselves an enviromentalist...

Sorry for all the questions, but my wife unit (sorry in advance if that offends wives) told me that something has to give, so I did more research. I think I'll hold on doing the mod until I get more info. I saw "The Day After Tomorrow" and it didn't look fun, and with all this freak weather we're having, I just don't feel like contributing to the destruction of our planet. 2+ MPG just isn't worth my soul. Then again I do own a diesel (hypocrite) and not a hyrbrid, maybe Bio or WVO will save us.

"Global Warming - One member of the NOx, nitrous oxide, is a greenhouse gas. It accumulates in the atmosphere with other greenhouse gasses causing a gradual rise in the earth's temperature. This will lead to increased risks to human health, a rise in the sea level, and other adverse changes to plant and animal habitat."

You say above "Then again I do own a diesel (hypocrite) and not a hyrbrid, maybe Bio or WVO will save us. "
Comparing your 7000lbs + diesel to a little hybrid is totally unfair.
Diesel engines put out almost no hydro carbons by nature and thus don't require a cat. A car/hybrid burning gasoline put out numbers in the thousands and need emissions such as the cat to reduce this number. Diesels do have the sulfur thing against them but getting low sulfur diesel in America like Europe has been doing for years will go a long way.
Comparing a VW diesel to a hybrid and much more fair and for the environment in my opinoin the diesel is much more superior. 50 mpg low hydro carbons and with low sulfur fuel/bio diesel is the way to go...
As far as the movie goes put it into historical perpective and the planet earth has gone through several ice ages that is part of the earth's cycle and perhaps cleansing process. It has happened and will happen again we only maybe speeding it up. Besides the time line is still hundreds of years in the future.

Why can't you just hog out the mounting hole for the sensor and just move it in its mount?

Because unless you mill it perfectly, it could become skewed or something. The tone ring mod is simple and almost foolproof. The bolts won't allow you to advance the timing too much, while modding the sensor may.
