Tone ring mod....a simple 1 2 3 step by step please

Ok so i have searched for the basic way to do this and have come up empty handed. Can someone post the procedure for doing this so that I can understand it? I read the crankshaft sensor thread and still dont have a clue how to do all of this?

It is my understanding that you remove the tone ring then file it down, where do i file? how much do i file? pictures would be a lifesaver....thanks

Read through this long thread https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ad.php?t=71543

About pg 11 or 12 "Superduty" has some posts and then has pictures in his gallery that should help you out.

it's easier to grind off the side of the sensor, and turn it up in it's mount

ok, so just take it to the benchgrinder and smooth that part out so it can be rotated upwards? If I have position it to its full travel then timing is increased by how many degrees? Looks like what I'm gonna do, thanks.

Ok well my sensor is smooth with an O-ring instead of offset piece so i guess grinding it is out of the question...

you have to go to page 2:

i just ground thru the o ring area.

comparo:

i dunno, assume it is the same as the tone ring mod,
it's definitely a LOT of timing - it will make it stumble with a box on it (boxes add timing)

when it stumbles: mid throttle stomps to WOT with truck already rolling (coming down off ramp, let off gas for while, then stomp it, will back fart)

asked Bully dog about it - they said not to worry, and just hold it WOT all the time....

I did both the tonring mod and sensor.

I could not tell any difference with just the sensor.

on the tone ring mod ( the way you can do it by grinding the little holes for the 4 bolts in the tone ring ) rotating it which way increases timing? i had it b4 i got my triple dog and now have too much timing i think. pops a bit when goin WOT as was stated above. i want lessen the timing, but forget which way i need to rotate it, thanks

Tonering clockwise advances timing.
