Timing ???

Interesting observation today....

Have been running TNT with timing #4 for a few months now, switched to timing #3 two days ago.

With timing #4, my DP/Boost ratio was 55psi/50psi. 1:1.1

With timing #3, my DP/Boost ratio is 55psi/43psi. 1:1.3

Can someone answer me why when I increase timing my overall boost goes down and my ratio goes up???

I was happy with a 1:1.1 ratio, but now why am I at a 1:1.3. I know that its still a good ratio, but just makes me wonder if I tried Timing #2 or even go back to REVO what my ratios would be.

Les, maybe the added timing of #3 cause a much better burn, a tad lower egt thus causing an increase in pressure. Hek I am not sure, just a guess. I went back yesterday to tm3 from 4 and I can say I think my truck like #3. Remember I went to # from #3 and thought I liked it. Well after alot of driving time and various conditions I like #3. A tad more inj rattle but I can live with that. Also seems the added timing has helped me with the cold morning starts.

Who knows...

I know that my truck runs like crap on timing #3, it much prefers less timing. Timing #4, spools WAY faster and seems peppier than #3.

Freak truck!!!!

Yeap, I thought #4 at first was good and spooled better, but after I switched back I think for me #3 gets the turbos going faster. With #4 alot more smoke, so I am thinking I am burning the fuel better with #3. I can say at 65 or 70mph and then getting on it, its stronger with #3. #4 made a mucj quiter ride, so maybe thats why I liked it so much

by increasing the timing, fuel is injected into the cylinder earlier and more of the combustion occurs in the cylinder and not in the exhaust manifold and turbo, thus lowering egt's and raising cylinder pressure and heat. Jay

so number's 3 for huge injectors, and 4 for NOs.are less timing then 2.im looking to get opies bypass, so until i do i think ill keep my cylinder pressure where it is.

TNT R timing

I have settled on timing 3 for faster spool.
A little less smoke.
I dont feel any power loss changing from 2 to 3.
Level 7 ,timing 3 ,torque 2.
Pod stays on 99,
Drivability is perfect. Can be driven with no smoke during the day ,but I see haze in the head lights on acceleration at night.

With dual pumps and flux 3.3's I have found the best programming to be Smarty TNT SW7 timing 3 for daily driving 2 for dynoing, I use pressure box for dyno and racing and tq mgt mild. this is with 62/71/13 over s480

Yup...my point exactly...every truck has its niche. You have injectors 2x the size of mine and yet my truck likes the same settings you run.

I wonder if the cold weather of winter has a bigger effect on tuning that we all think???

Right now where I live its been in the 40's-low 50's during the day and in the 30's at night. When I first got TNT I was running timing #2 and thought it was great, but that was in 90*-100+* weather.

Does lower ambient temps warrant less timing to achieve the same driving impression????
